Join in the 5th Annual Sewing Room Declutter Challenge

Does your sewing space look similar? Have you been wrapping gifts in it? Stashing items from the house in your sewing room before guests come over? Or a health issue has just made things out of control? It's been a year, hasn't it? There have been a few rough months for me mixed into 2024, but things are smoothing out, and I'm so looking forward to the holidays with family and friends.

It's also been a year since we've decluttered and felt so motivated and positive about our space. Well, get ready because January 1 begins my 5th Annual Declutter Challenge!

Here's how to get ready:

  1. Go to the website and register for the daily email prompts.

Every year the list is re-created. So even if you signed up in previous years, you'll still need to register in order to receive the 2025 Declutter Challenge emails. If you are already subscribed to get my newsletters (like this), you'll still need to sign up for the 2025 challenge. The declutter challenge emails stop after the challenge is over.

  2. Download the "I'm In" button below and post it on your social media.

To do this right click on the graphic below and save to your device where you know you can find it again. And then share it on your social media!

  3. Join the 2025 Declutter Challenge Facebook group if you haven't.

  4. Watch the video that will post on December 26th about getting ready.

  5. Keep these hashtags handy and post your progress!

    #declutterchallenge2025 and #jgidqdeclutter2025

  6. Relax and enjoy your holidays with your friends and family.

If you've participated in 1, 2 or even all of the last 4 years, spend some time over the next couple of weeks thinking about what area you'd like to focus on or a goal you'd like to accomplish. I will be giving attention to what I'm calling a "hot spot" area, my photography equipment. It's not necessarily sewing space, but since I record what I'm sewing, it's in that room and getting out of control. What task is most important for you to help feel like you've reclaimed your creative space?

Or think about what has changed in your space. Personally, I have brought wool felt and embroidery into my space. So I need to think about where the best spot for containing it is.

And maybe a there will be couple of hard decisions that I am finally able to make. Items that I said no to before but now I can say yes to.

In the meantime, here are some videos you might want to review if you have the time.
